BosunMarine Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of BosunMarine, the app and website operated by Sunny Corner Coffee, trading as BosunMarine ("BosunMarine," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using BosunMarine, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use BosunMarine.

What BosunMarine is

BosunMarine is an AI-assisted app for boat owners. It helps you organize manuals and documents about your vessel and builds a searchable record from what you upload and tell it. Its AI assistant, Bosun, answers your questions about the boat's systems.

Eligibility and your account

You must be at least [13 OR 16 OR 18, PER JURISDICTION] years old to use BosunMarine. You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for everything that happens under it. Sign-in is handled through Auth0; use accurate information when you register.

Your content

You keep ownership of the manuals, photos, notes, and other content you upload or enter into BosunMarine ("your content"). By uploading it, you give us the right to store, process, and use your content to operate and provide the app to you — including sending it to the AI providers described in our Privacy Policy to generate responses.

You're responsible for your content. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to share (for example, copyrighted manuals you don't have permission to reproduce), or anything unlawful, abusive, or that infringes someone else's rights.

Subscriptions and payment

BosunMarine offers a free tier and one or more paid subscription tiers with expanded usage. Details of what's included in each tier are shown in the app.

• On iOS, subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID via Apple's In-App Purchase system. Subscriptions auto-renew for the same length and price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your device's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase, and the account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. Pricing is shown in the App Store prior to purchase and may vary by region.
• On the web, subscriptions are billed through Stripe and can be managed or canceled from your account settings.

Except where required by Apple's policies or applicable law, payments are non-refundable. Purchases made through Apple's In-App Purchase system are also governed by Apple's own terms and refund policies.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use BosunMarine for anything unlawful, or to violate the rights of others;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with BosunMarine or its underlying AI models;
• Upload malicious files or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data;
• Use Bosun's output as a substitute for professional advice in a way that could put people, property, or a vessel at risk.

AI-generated content

BosunMarine uses third-party AI models (currently Google's Gemini and OpenAI models) to power Bosun's answers, summaries, and document understanding. AI-generated content may contain errors and does not reflect the views of BosunMarine or its AI providers. You're responsible for verifying anything important before relying on it.

Intellectual property

BosunMarine, its design, and its underlying software are owned by Sunny Corner Coffee, trading as BosunMarine, and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our trademarks, branding, or source code beyond what's needed to use the app as intended.

Disclaimers

BosunMarine is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that BosunMarine will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that Bosun's answers will be accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sunny Corner Coffee, trading as BosunMarine, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of BosunMarine — including reliance on AI-generated answers about your vessel. Termination

You may stop using BosunMarine and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe your use poses a risk to BosunMarine or others.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as BosunMarine changes. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use BosunMarine after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law
